Security Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION

Be a pivotal force in shaping the City of Edmonton’s digital future! We're seeking a dynamic Security Lead to manage the overall approach to our security framework for the SAP Enterprise Commons cloud solution implementation. This role is central to driving security strategy, governance, and compliance, ensuring our SAP environment remains secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with industry best practices. If you possess deep technical knowledge of identity and access management, designing security solutions, and general software solution architecture and design, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, lead staff and project teams, and make key operational, budget, and timeline decisions.

Reporting to the Director of ERP Implementation, as the Security Lead, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of assigned projects, owning deliverables, objectives, and outcomes. This is a chance to exercise your influence, communicate effectively, mediate issues, and solve complex problems. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a challenging environment, and that can develop and implement robust stakeholder engagement plans. 

What will you do?

  • Implement the overall security architecture, including designing and implementing solutions to overcome technical limitations (as required) for non-production and production environments
  • Develop innovative processes, and craft cutting-edge technology strategies using SAP software security tools
  • Manage the advancement of SAP security practices and the implementation of new technologies to improve security and operational effectiveness
  • Take the lead on multiple, cross-departmental, complex deliverables, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to achieve shared goals
  • Proactively monitor and manage project risks, safeguarding the City's reputation and ensuring smooth operations
  • Utilize project management systems and best practices to deliver projects efficiently and effectively, making a tangible impact
  • Develop and implement robust stakeholder engagement plans, fostering strong relationships and driving impactful change
  • Be a key member on a strong technical leadership team to move a transformational technology project into a live state
Qualifications

  • Experience with software architecture and design
  • Education, training and/or experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
  • Significant project management experience in a complex environment
  • Experience managing and coordinating technical, and non-technical, teams as part of large scale, enterprise wide technology projects
  • Experience developing and implementing public stakeholder engagement processes
  • Experience working with external consultants
    A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered
    Experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation 
  • Experience in translating business policies, directives and processes into technical requirements

Assets:

  • Masters Degree in a related field
  • Additional certification and in technical security certifications, project management; and/or change management
  • Experience with Identity and Access Management, federated identity model and SAP security solutions

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:

  • 1 temporary, full-time position up to 11 months in duration
  • Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.
  • Salary: (Annually) $123,139.00 - $153,924.00
  • Hire is dependent on Criminal Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton. There may be a cost associated with this requirement
